Noida: The 16th edition of the Global Film Festival Noida (GFFN) witnessed a groundbreaking seminar, “Growing Importance of Women in Global Cinema,” held at Marwah Studios. Festival President and Chancellor of AAFT University of Media & Arts, Dr. Sandeep Marwah, set the stage for an enlightening discourse on the evolving role of women in the film industry.

The esteemed guests for the seminar included  Ambassador of Panama H.E. Renowned Film Producer, Boney Kapoor, traced the industry’s evolution from men playing feminine roles to female Oscar winners, showcasing the monumental strides made by women in cinema. Makeup Artist Divya Behl shared her inspiring journey from challenging beginnings to representing India at Cannes Fashion Week, exemplifying resilience and creativity.

Influencer Pavleen Gujral praised the evolving landscape of the film industry, acknowledging the increased participation of women in Bollywood. Innovative Speaker Mr. Amrit Kumar Dev stressed the importance of nurturing talent, especially among female students, emphasizing the need for inclusivity.

Director Soham Sham shared his experiences with influential actresses, providing insights into the changing dynamics of the film industry. Actor Mr. Chittranjan Tripathi drew parallels between realistic acting and feminine entities from the Natyashastra, enriching the discourse with artistic perspectives.

On this momentous occasion, the newsletter “CineFiesta” was released by the dignitaries, prepared by the students of AAFT School of Journalism and Mass Communication. The inauguration ceremony saw the esteemed presence of Member of Parliament Lok Sabha, Jagannath Sarkar, Ambassador of Panama H.E. Yasiel Burillo, Makeup Artist Ms. Divya Behl, H.E. Elchin Husenli designated Ambassador of Azerbaijan, Model & Actor Richa Mehta, Vipin Gaur Secretary, News Paper Association of India and Singer Sameer Khan Niazi, who graced the occasion as the guests of honor.

Dr. Sandeep Marwah expressed the university’s commitment to incorporating still photography exhibitions into every occasion or festival at AAFT. H.E. Elchin Husenli from Azerbaijan congratulated the students for their outstanding exhibition, appreciating their creativity. Hon. Jagannath Sarkar, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, expressed his honor to be present at Marwah Studios and celebrate such a vibrant film festival. The interactive session provided students with valuable insights into the world of music videos, shedding light on the procedural intricacies involved in crafting impactful musical productions.

Ms. Pallavi Prakash, a stalwart in the industry, focused on the portrayal of women empowerment in music videos, actively engaging with students and guiding them on the production nuances. The workshop emphasized the incorporation of aesthetic elements essential for creating memorable music videos, and Ms. Prakash shared her expertise on considerations crucial for pre-production planning.

Dr. Sandeep Marwah, Festival President, took the opportunity to introduce the AAFT School of Performing Arts, highlighting that the making of music videos is an integral part of the students’ cinema curriculum at AAFT. The festival provided a platform for students to delve into the significance of music videos in shaping cultural narratives.

Pallavi Prakash, during the workshop, addressed the pivotal role of cross-cultural music videos in influencing global culture. The session concluded with Ms. Prakash expressing appreciation for the film festival and congratulating the students for their ongoing success and achievements.

Sushil Bharti, the Director of Broadcasting at Marwah Studios, set the tone for the event by highlighting the profound impact of cinema on societal intricacies. He underscored the crucial role of Film Festivals in the life of a filmmaker, emphasizing their significance as platforms for artistic expression.

Among the distinguished guests was Mohski Mohammed Raza from the Embassy of Iran, who expressed his delight at participating in the festival. Drawing from personal experiences, Raza commended the cinematography of the director of the feature film “The Girl Squad,” which artfully delves into the struggles faced by Iranian citizens during the wars of the 60s and 70s.

Dr. Sandeep Marwah, the President of the festival, shed light on the enduring relationship between India and Iran. He also highlighted the longstanding collaboration between ICMEI and the Indo Iran Film and Cultural Forum, in association with the Embassy of Iran.

The film screening captivated the audience with its compelling narratives and intense war visuals, showcasing exceptional casting and skilled performances that effectively portrayed the struggles of ordinary Iranian citizens impacted by war. The storyline prominently featured the active involvement of Iranian women working in wartime conditions to protect their fellow citizens. In recognition of its cinematic excellence, Dr. Sandeep Marwah presented the prestigious Award of Distinction to “The Girl Squad.” The award was graciously collected by Mohski Mohammed Raza, who also received a memento commemorating the festival.

Noida:  The Sardar Patel Forum of AAFT observed a solemn ceremony on 15th December to pay tribute to the visionary leader and the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, on his 73rd death anniversary. The poignant event was organized at Marwah Studios, bringing together students, faculty, and dignitaries to commemorate the enduring legacy of this stalwart who played a pivotal role in the unification of India.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, also known as the “Bismarck of India,” was a key figure in the Indian independence movement and the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of independent India. His contributions to the nation are immeasurable, particularly in the integration of princely states into the Union of India, a task that earned him the title “Iron Man.”

Addressing the audience, Dr Sandeep Marwah President of Marwah Studios remarked, “Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s legacy is a beacon of inspiration for all of us. His unwavering commitment to national unity, his leadership during challenging times, and his vision for a strong, united India continue to guide our nation. Noida: The Asian School of Media Studies (ASMS) recently hosted a momentous convocation ceremony at Marwah Studios Film City Noida, bidding farewell to the bright and talented students of the 2023 batch. The convocation celebrated the achievements of students from various disciplines, including the School of Fashion and Design, School of Interior Designing, School of Mass Communication and Journalism, School of Animation, and School of Data Science.

Since its inception in 2012, the Global Festival of Journalism has evolved into a one-of-a-kind international extravaganza, gaining prominence as a comprehensive celebration for journalists worldwide. With over two decades of experience in the realms of stage, television, and films, Ali Haider shared valuable insights with AAFT students, rekindling their passion for the art of anchoring in the media world.

Ali Haider’s presence brought a fresh wave of energy to the students as he delved into the nuances of anchoring and its crucial role in the media landscape. Drawing from his extensive career, he motivated and inspired the aspiring media professionals, shedding light on the evolving dynamics of the industry.

Beyond his role as an anchor person, Ali Haider has also served as an assistant director and production controller in various films in Delhi and Mumbai. His multifaceted experience provided students with a holistic perspective on the entertainment industry, enriching their understanding of the diverse facets of media and performance.

During the workshop, Ali Haider engaged with the students, emphasizing the requirements of an actor from a director’s point of view. This valuable perspective offered students a unique insight into the expectations and considerations that directors have when working with actors.

Her Excellency Capaya Rodriguez Gonzalez, the esteemed Ambassador of Venezuela to India, graciously accepted the Award of Distinction on behalf of the talented filmmakers behind “The Girls Squad.”

The Indo Venezuela Film and Cultural Forum (IVFCF), established in 2016 under the aegis of ICMEI, has been instrumental in fostering meaningful cultural exchange between India and Venezuela.
