ICMEI and BIS Host Full-Day Summit on Media & Entertainment Standards

New Delhi: The International Chamber of Media & Entertainment Industry (ICMEI), in collaboration with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India, successfully inaugurated a full-day summit on Media & Entertainment (M&E) Standards. The event brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and experts to discuss the evolving landscape of standards in the M&E sector.

S.K. Kanojia, Head of the Service Sector at BIS, provided a detailed explanation of the significance of industry standards and their impact on the media and entertainment industry.

Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of Marwah Studios, and National Chair for M&E Committee in BIS Ministry of Consumer Affaires, Government of India, opened the session with an insightful introduction to the M&E industry, revealing eye-opening statistics on its rapid growth. His presentation shed light on the industry’s transformation and the increasing need for structured guidelines to support its expansion.

Prominent industry figures also shared their perspectives on the role of standards in shaping the future of the media industry. Dr. Ajit Pathak, President of the Public Relations Society of India (PRAI), addressed key communication strategies, while Sandeep Gupta, President of the Professional Speakers Association of India (PSAA), emphasized the need for quality benchmarks in professional speaking and media engagements.

Additionally, Atul Churamani, Managing Director of Turnkey Music and Publishing Pvt. Ltd., discussed the role of standards in music publishing and content distribution, highlighting their importance in ensuring quality and consistency across the sector.

The summit marked a significant step towards streamlining and enhancing industry regulations, reinforcing the need for standardization in the rapidly growing media and entertainment sector.
